I am a writer! There, I said it out loud.

I am a writer! There, I said it out loud.

Hey there, it's been a minute! Truthfully, it's been two and a half years since my last blog. (Pauses to read her last blog.) Wow, truthfully, it’s only been one and a half years since my last blog. In June of 2024, I graduated from Brock and I wrote a beautiful piece about all the things I learned on my graduation day. (You can read that blog here.)

I was thinking today would be my first blog since my brother Jon died, but it looks like I already swallowed that frog.  Today is my first blog since (gulp), I became a published writer. That’s right, I’m a published author now, check out my book here.

I am a writer.

These words have been hard for me to say, but the more I say it, the easier it gets. The one thing I want to do more in life (after being a mom, wife, and sister) is to write. I want to be introduced as Sarah Kinlin, the writer. I want to practice my craft and get better and better at it.

What will I write? Well, I have two projects on the go:

  • A children's version of my first book called: Grit, Grace, and Goals: Mindset lessons for girls who play hockey. This book is drafted and should be released in 2026.
  • An Oracle deck to accompany Grit, Grace, and Goals, built from all the affirmations I used to write my first book. I'm writing these cards as they come to me and hoping for them to be released in 2027.

Also rumbling around in my brain is a chapter book series for preteens written from the perspectives of 17 players who make up a hockey team. (Another gulp, does that mean 17 books?) We will have to wait and see how that turns out and what the timing looks like.

I am a writer of books, oracle cards, and this blog. To create space to write, I'm hosting a weekly writing circle for women who write. You can learn more and register here. It's quite a magical space.

Today is the start to get me over the hump of that first blog in so many months. Come back again to see where this takes me. If you have ideas for blog topics - questions you want answered, curiosities you want to explore, or itches you want to scratch - send me an e-mail, I'm happy to use your prompt.

Until next time, why not take 5 or 55 minutes today to write whatever comes to your mind. You might enjoy writing as much I do!
